DDC114: Capacitors for recommended voltage reference circuit using REF3140

Part Number: DDC114

Good day,

In our equipment, we are using DDC114 ADC. Currently, we are trying to minimize the noise and improve the long-term stability of data acquisition.

For reference voltage generation we have been using the recommended circuit (Figure 6 on page 11 of the DDC114 data sheet). Our question concerns the capacitors used in this circuit.

Due to size restrictions, we must choose between tantalum and MLCC capacitors. We have not found any recommendations in the data sheet concerning the capacitor type. Which capacitors are preferred in this application if the goal is to minimize noise and improve the stability of the reference voltage?

Best regards

  • Hi,

We are not capacitor and voltage reference experts.

However, according to the evaluation kti/board(EVM) schematic, it uses most

    Murata's Ceramic chip capacitors

    So, you may need to

    open an e2e ticket under

    and/or

contact the Murata's App Engineers to see if they have equivalent suggestion for your need/selection tantalum and MLCC.

Then, after that you could do some A/B test comparison to see whether different capacitors affect any performance or not?

    Thanks,
