DAC inquiry

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC81402

Hello,

My customer is looking for a 16bits DAC to generate 0 – 200KHz sin wave (by internal DDS) or square wave (by sending digital codes to the DAC. They would also like to have EVMs and GUI to evaluate it under Windows10 environment. What DAC does TI recommend?

Best regards,

K.Hirano

  • I will review this and answer tomorrow.

  • Paul,

Thank you for taking care of this inquiry.
I look forward to receiving your feedback.

  • Hi Hirano-san,

We do not have any internal DDS in our devices.  We can create a sinewave with descrete samples being streamed to our device.  Generally, MDACs are well suited for this as they have a fast setting time and some feature parallel digital interfaces.  Most precision DACs are limited to <2Msps, so the number of samples per period is reduced when you have a high frequency tone, which contributes to worst THD.  In regards to a square wave, we have more options.  You could look at the DAC81402, which is a high voltage DAC with a TOGGLE input, which allows it to switch between two DAC codes. That device has an EVM.

    Thanks,

    Paul
