ADS5295EVM: Using two ADC EVMs with one Data acquisition board TSW1400EVM for simultaneously reading data of 16 Analog channels

Part Number: ADS5295EVM

Hi Team,

I am working on an application where I want to test data capture from 16 analog channels (10MHz), using two ADS5295EVM and TSW1400EVM for data capture . I want to check whether this can be done. Any reference to how I can go about building this would be greatly appreciated.

Ambuj

  • Hi Ambuj,

My apologies for delayed response on this query.

I think it would not be very straightforward. There are couple of concerns regarding the same:

    1. the LVDS outputs mapping from the EVM to the TSW card will be same for both the EVMS. We will have to move the DOUT channels to other pin on the samtec connector.

    2. The device will generate the LCLK and ADCLK signals independently, we will have to synchronize the same so the 1 set of LCLCK and ADCLK could be used to deserialize the data.

Please allow me some more time to explore any more challenges in this implementation and check with my team if they have done something similar in the past.

I will get back to you by Friday.

    Thanks & regards,
    Abhishek

  • Hi Ambuj,

I consulted with my team as well for this and based on their feedback I think it would not work properly due to skew between the two DCLKs from respective EVMs.

Even if you synchronize the AFEs, with 1 DCLK (which the TSW expects) you will not be able to always meet the setup and hold time for the DOUTs and DCLK of for the other device.

I would recommend to build a new board for the same with Two AFEs and develop the capture solution with two sets of LVDS outputs.

    Thanks & regards,

    Abhishek

  • Hi Abhishek,

    Thank you for the response.

I was having the same view, I wanted to check the feasibility anyways.

    Best Regards,

    Ambuj

  • Hi Ambuj,

    Thanks,

I will go ahead and close this thread. Please do reach out if you have further questions.

I hope I was able to clarify your query.
