TSW1400EVM: Error 5000 occurred at Back Channel wont work as for the below Board Name and Firmware Name, the Firmware File Format is not Found

Part Number: TSW1400EVM

Trying to run High Speed Data Converter Software v4.7 along with AFE58JD32EVM. When prompted to update the firmware, the GUI shows it is downloading firmware, opens up AFE58JD32_EVM GUI, but then displays the error shown below.

  • Hi AB,

    Thank you for reaching out.

Typically, this back channel error occurs due to the current limit of the power supply that you are using. When the firmware is being loaded, a higher amount of current is demanded by the EVM and the TSW capture card.

Can you try with two independent 5V Supplies to power up the EVM and the TSW card, set the current limit of both to atleast 2A and let me know if that works.

If not, I will suggest you couple of more things that you can do.

    Thanks & regards,

    Abhishek

  • Hi Abhishek,

Thanks for the reply, however, this did not solve the issue. I tried with two different power supplies set to 5V and 2.5A but I did not see any signs of the current draw being a problem. All voltages were measured to be good. This setup was working previously and no modifications have been made since then, using the same workstation and software. Also tried on a different computer but getting the same error.

Is there other things to try?

    Thanks

  • Hi AB,

Thanks for checking the supply. In most of the cases, current limit of the supply is usually the reason but in your case it doesn't seem like it is.

For the below experiments, please ensure high current limit settings in the power supply.

Below are a couple of suggestions:

    1. The mating of the boards is gone bad and hence it is not able to communicate. Kindly ensure firm mating between the two boards.

    2. The FTDI on the boards are not identyfying the repective boards: You can verify the same by downloading FT_Prog software, connect the boards to power and USB and open FT_Prog and search for the connected devices: It should show both TSW1400 and AFE58JD32. Please share the screenshot of the name it shows.

    3. Not having the admin rights, This Labview error might also occur when HSDC pro (launched without admin rights) calls a Device GUI which requires Admin Rights.0

    4. Firmware may be corrupted: Try reinstalling the softwares: First HSDC Pro and then AFE58JD32 GUI and check again.

I hope that due to one of the above reasons, you are facing this issue.

Let me know if it works.

    Thanks & regards,

    Abhishek

  • Hi Abhishek,

I was going through the different steps and I believe it was my power supply that was not set high enough, I changed it to above 3A and the error has gone away.

    Thanks for your help

  • Hi AB,

Glad that your issue is resolved.

Thanks for reaching out to TI.

    Thanks & regards,
