AFE5832LP: Encounter an unexpected disturbance at the beginning when receiving signal

Part Number: AFE5832LP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AFE5832

Hi,

I'm using AFE5832LP for ultrasound imaging. When receving ultrasonic signal with just transducer (not detecting anything), there is an unexpected disturbance at the beginning of the received data as shown as following.

However, when I tested the received data by replacing AFE5832LP with AFE5832, the signal seems normal as following. All other settings are same for AFE5832LP and AFE5832.

Can anyone help let me know why there is such a disturbance when using AFE5832LP? Any potential cause for this?

Thanks!

Yinhui

  • Hi Yinhui,

The difference in performance of AFE5832 and AFE5832LP is quite possible because both the devices have different front end sub chips.

When you say, the settings are the same, what exactly is the same. Both of them are not reg-map compatible.

It may be possible that in the given configuration, the input impedance offered by both the devices may be different and hence the unusual waveform is coming on AFE5832.

You can implement the digital high pass filter in the device and see if your issue persists.

Let me know if with digital high pass filter as well you are not seeing improvement.

    Thanks & regards,

    Abhishek

  • Hi Abhishek,

Nice to meet you again. Thanks for the information you provided. Based on it, I found the problem!

For our last issue, I set the digital processing block as "bypassed". After enabling it, the digital high pass filter worked and the disturbance of the received data has been filtered and removed.

    Thanks for your great support!
