DAC8555: Equilivent to DAC8554?

We use the DAC8554 in a design but because of part shortages, it is sometimes hard to get and I see that the DAC8555 is available. I'm wondering if we can list the DAC8555 as an alternate. What are the differences between these chips? My reading of their datasheets is that they are same except the DAC8555 starts mid-scale and the DAC8554 at the bottom. But if this were the only difference, I'd expect them to share a datasheet. Are there any other differences I'm missing?

Hi Ben,

It took me a little bit to find the difference as well. The DAC8554 has two address pins that lets you use multiple devices with one SYNC line. The DAC8555 has a reset pin and reset select pin in place of the address pins. If you aren't using the address pins then you can replace the DAC8554 with the DAC8555, but this would require the reset pin (pin 13) to be pulled high so the device is not in reset.

Thanks! And just to confirm, there are no performance differences (cross-talk, SNR, glitching, noise, etc) between the DAC8554 and DAC8555?

Thanks. One last question: Do those pins (A0, A1, RST, RSTSEL) have any weak internal pull up or pull downs on them? Can they be left open, or must they be pulled up or down externally.

Input pins should not be left floating. Use an external pullup or pulldown.
