ADS1248: Filter

Part Number: ADS1248

Hi,

Good Day.

I'm looking at the datasheet for the ADS1248 and it says it has 50 and 60 Hz filtering. Is that at all sample rates?

The table on page 30 has dashes for sample rates 40SPS and higher.

We use the ADS1248 on our board and noticed that 50 and 60 HZs signals are being attenuated, we just wanted to make sure that what we are seeing is correct.

Please advise. Thank you very much.

Best Regards,

Ray Vincent

  • Hi Ray Vincent Aranzaso,

Table 10 in the ADS1248 datasheet specifies the normal-mode rejection offered by the digital filter. For this ADC, only data rates <40 SPS offer meaningful rejection of 50/60 Hz, which is why data rates > 20 SPS have the "-" instead of a value.

It might be possible to get some rejection at 40 SPS and 80 SPS because the filter bandwidth is still <50/60 Hz, but this could be only a few dB because the ADS1248 digital filter is not purely a sinc filter.
