ADS122C04EVM: Device is not recognized correctly.

Part Number: ADS122C04EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS122C04

I installed DELTASIGMAEVAL-GUI-installer.exe and ADS122C04-dvcpkg.exe with reference to the Delta-Sigma ADC EvaluaTIon Software User Manual.

In section 2.3.1 Automatic Installation of this document, it says "The correct driver shows as "Generic Bulk Device" (with VID = 1CBE and PID = 003) in the Device Manager. However, when ADS122C04EVM is connected to the PC, it shows "Tiva Device Firmware Update". The VID and PID are as follows: VID = 1CBE, PID = 00FF

I would like to know how to solve this.

  • Hi Katsuura,

Welcome to the E2E forum!  It appears that the firmware was accidentally erased from microcontroller.  This can happen if the BSL and RESET button were activated at the same time.  Take a look at the following E2E thread that explains the firmware update procedure:

    https://e2e.ti.com/support/data-converters-group/data-converters/f/data-converters-forum/1159286/ads114s08evm-deactivate-dfu-update-firmware/4358968#4358968

The only difference is the name of the EVM and location of the files.

The binary file to use is 'ADS122C04_v1.0.0.bin'.  Once the binary file is loaded, unplug the EVM and then reconnect.  Try running the GUI and the EVM should automatically connect.

  • Hi Bob,

Thank you for your prompt attention.
I understand that the data may have been erased by the firmware.

I would like to know about the .bin file but I could not find that file in my directory.
When I run ADS122C04-dvcpkg.exe, does it create a .bin file?

    Best  regards,

    Katsuura

  • Hi Katsuura,

The firmware file is a part of the ADS122C04-dvcpkg.exe installation.  The binary file for the firmware is copied from the .exe installer archive to the folder I referenced earlier.  The version number may be different but the file should be there if the device package has been installed.  So if you open a File Explorer window you should be able to find the file under Documents\DSEvalSW\Devices\ADS122C04\fw\ADS122C04_v1.0.0.bin.  If you did not install the software and someone else did, the file may be under some other users directory.  In this case you could just search for the file to see where it exists.

    Best regards,

    Bob B

  • Hi Bob,

    Thanks for the reply.

I reinstalled the ADS122C04-dvcpkg.exe. Then I found the .bin file and was able to write to the device with Flash programmer.
As a result, the ADS122C04EVM board is working fine.

Thank you very much for your support.

    Best regards,

    Katsuura
