ADS1235EVM: Suggestions for using the evm

I had some trouble getting the EVM to work as I wanted it to, but eventually succeeded. Here are some tips. Maybe TI can clarify their documentation?

1. In the DeltaSigma ADC EvaluaTIon Software 'File\Options\User Directory' entry - this must match the location of the ADS1235 device folder and it must match the location specified in the registry (Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Texas Instruments\ADS1235EVM Device Package). If it does not match, PC will not connect to the board.

2. I think the predefined script 'Enable bridge - external reference w/ AC excitation' has a bug. WREG 11 34 should be WREG 11 78. Then connect the EVM EXC_OUT+\EXC_OUT- to REFP0\REFN0 (mind the polarity) and to your bridge excitation. And then, connect your bridge outputs to AIN4 and AIN5. This will match Fig 82 in the ADS1235 datasheet. Also, might increase conversion delay in REG 03.

    Hi Mark Fredette,

    Thanks for the suggestions. I certainly agree with your second point about the script, the input mux values should be AIN4 and AIN5 when using the ADS1235.

    I will note that we are in the process of moving this EVM to a different software platform, so in the future these concerns you have raised should not be an issue
