ADC3644: Is the ADC3644 Monotonic?

Part Number: ADC3644
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADC3643,

I'm wondering if the ADC3644 (and the ADC3643 if it different) is monotonic. The datasheets do not mention monotonic explicitly, but it puts the DNL at 0.5 typical and max of 0.97, which to me implies the device is monotonic. However, the DNL plot in figure 6-21 shows some values above 1 which makes me think otherwise.

Thanks!

  • Hi B Luey,

Yes, this device is monotonic. Ideally, each code increases as a result of an increase in differential voltage at the analog input of 1 LSB. Monotonicity does not ensure that there are no missed codes or non-zero INL or DNL, just that the ideal response is a 1 LSB to 1 output code increase across all supported input voltages for the device.

    Regards, Chase
