DAC53204: DAC53204 - disconnections

Part Number: DAC53204

Hello,

I work with the DAC53204 for voltage margining and scaling. I designed the circuit according to the VOUT MODE with External Ref and relied on your application note on the subject.

Every few cycles of writing word-to-data_out to the DAC, I experience disconnections from my controller (FT4232HL-64LQFP). I also have an LED for indication on the PG of each DCDC in the circuit, and they also turn off for a second every time I write a new word to the DAC.

what can be the root cause? and what can I do to solve this issue?

  • Hi Ariel,

Have you looked at the output of the DCDC with a scope? There is likely some glitch on the DCDC output that is causing the power in your circuit to fail, which is also disconnecting the controller.

The DAC53204 has a slew rate feature that gradually changes the output of the DAC vs jumping to the new value. This could minimize the glitch (if that is the cause of the issue).

    Best,

    Katlynne Jones
