Hi,

I wanted to know if I can apply any external voltage to Ain0 and Ain1 points in the ADS1118EVM and to check the ADC output voltage. I have used it in Temperature sensor mode and also by using K-thermocouple.

Now instead of measuring temperature, I wanted to measure voltage. So can I apply voltage to any mux inputs through SMPS or something?

Hi Jane,

Yes, you can apply any external voltage to be measured in the input pins as long as you are within the max ratings. For this part it is not recommended to apply any voltage that is 0.3V higher than DVDD to avoid damaging the part.

You may choose to apply a differential voltage between AIN0 and AIN1 or do two single-ended measurements with these pins.
