[FAQ] ADS1602: What are the reference options in the ADS16xx devices?

Part Number: ADS1602
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1601, ADS1606, ADS1605, ADS1625, ADS1626

What are recommended reference options for the ADS1601, ADS1602, ADS1605, ADS1606, ADS1625, and ADS1626 devices?

  • The ADS16xx family of data converters have an internal reference and can also be used with an external reference.  When using the internal reference and power cycling the device below -20C, the reference may not startup.  The easiest method to insure proper startup of the internal reference at temperatures below -20C is to include a 50kOhm resistor from VCAP to AVDD.

Please refer to the TI Application note ADS16xx Reference Options for more details and additional recommendations.
