AFE4400: DB9 spO2 AFE part selection

Hello,

I am designing a product with an SPO2 and MHR sensor. I will control it with an ESP32 through I2C/SPI (I am lacking GPIOs).

I will use a DB9 8000J sensor (https://www.nonin.com/products/8000j/). It will be used in the transmissive mode.

My question is:

Since the LEDs inside the sensor are connected antiparallel, can I use AFEs like AFE4404 (I assume with external hardware)?. If yes, can you recommend me any application note or circuit?

I only have 2 LEDs and 1 photodiode, can you recommend me the partnumber that fits the most?.

Hi,

AFE4404 only support the following LEDs and PDs connection and orientation.

So, if you only need 2 LEDs and 1 PD, and want to connect in the above connection and topology. Then AFE4404 will do.

Here is a schematic of my DB9 sensor. As you see, RD and IR diodes are connected antiparallel.

I assume I must use 4400/4403/4490, is that right?

Yes, AFE 4400/4403/4490 support H-Bridge.
