EXP430F5529LP: Unable to find the MSP430-USB Example in device manager

Hi,

I'm working on ADC161S626EVM with EXP430F5529LP launchpad using steps mentioned in the below link.

After updating the Launchpad firmware i followed the same steps but to update USB driver i couldn't see the 'MSP430-USB Example' in device manager as you mentioned in below figure.

But when EVM is plugged in i got these options in device manager shown in below picture.

I'm using windows 10 for installing the software. can you help me how to update the USB driver software.

Hi Nikhitha,

This appears to be related to signed driver enforcement in windows 7+.

While installing the driver i'm getting error shown in below picture. and also i'm not able to see "TI_ADC_DAC_EVMs " under Ports.

so please help me to solve this error.

Hi Nikhitha,

These drivers are unsigned and according to that prompt your OS is still enforcing the driver signature check.

Can you verify you disabled this?

There are multiple threads on the Microsoft forum covering how to do this in Windows 10 (for example, see the first answer here). If the driver installation doesn't work after that you may need to reach out to Microsoft support and see if there are any other methods you can try. The drivers for that EVM are not signed, and its up to windows whether or not they can be installed.

after doing the above mentioned steps the driver installation completed successfully.

i am getting -ve values in the single read data but in the guide it is like below

do we need to connect the power supply externally for the ADC-EVM?

Hi Ryan,

I placed the ADC161S626EVM on the EXP430F5529LP Launchpad and connected launchpad to PC using the USB cable. As shown in below picture.

I didn't connect any power supply externally.Do we need to give any external supply to the ADC.

Hi Nikhitha,

The ADC161S626EVM receives the necessary power supply rails from the LaunchPad. The 5-V supply is used for analog circuits, while the 3.3-V supply is used for digital I/O.

Figure 16 in the User Guide is showing an example of the ADC output data when a 1-Vp sine wave is applied to the input. As shown in your previous post, you are not connecting an input signal to the ADC, so the output data will be dominated by quantization noise.
