DAC39RF10: Specification of external reference input is missing in the datasheet

Part Number: DAC39RF10

Dear TI team,

in "table 6-1" EXTREF is describes as an optional reference input. At this point there is no mentioning, that this pinb can also serve as an output.

In section 7.5, DC specifications however, technical details/specifications are only given for this pin, when used as an output.

What are the specification (voltage, resistance or input current) for this pin, when being used as a reference input ?

Best regards

Bjoern

  • Hey Bjoern,

I have asked the design team for some clarification as you are right the current datasheet does not have much on using EXTREF as an input. I'll update you as soon as I get an answer.

    Regards,

    Matt

  • Hey Bjoern,

I spoke with design. The input impedance of the EXTREF is high-z, though it does have a LPF to help with 1/f noise.

Were you going to try and use a voltage other than 900mV?

    Regards,

    Matt

  • Hey Matt,

thanks a lot for the information given. Hi-z sounds good.

We do not intend to use a different voltage but maybe an external reference source. But since there is no data given when using this pin as an input, even the optimal value of 900mV would be just a guess, albeit a likely one, since that is the value available when using it as an output.

Best regards and have a nice weekend !

    Bjoern
