ADS7828: ADS7828 reference Default question

Part Number: ADS7828

Hi,

Regarding ADS7828 datasheet, the internal reference default to off when the ADS7828 power is on (PD1=0).

We need to have command to enable it (PD1=1) .

If we use 0xFC directly to read ADC CH7 (PD1=1) when power on, the first time response always 0x0FFF.

1.Is it expected to get 0x0FFF for the first time to get the value?

2.Is there a way to let ADS7828 reference default is PD1=1?

Thanks

  • Hi Gary,

Since the internal reference of the ADS7828 is off initially, the first conversion result from power up will not be accurate.  There is no guarantee that it will always be 0x0FFF, but it will be higher than expected in most cases.  Unfortunately, there is no way to have PD1=1 by default.
