ADS8528: power sequencing

Part Number: ADS8528

Hello,

The ADS8528 data sheet states, "Generally, there are no specific requirements with regard to the power sequencing of the device. However, when HVDD is supplied before AVDD, the internal electrostatic discharge (ESD) structure conducts, increasing the IHVDD beyond the specified value until AVDD is applied."

So, having HVDD up before AVDD is up presents a problem. But is it a problem to have AVDD up before HVDD is up? In other words, can I keep HVDD off until AVDD is up?

Thank you,

Eric Bogomolny.

  • Hi Eric,

Having HVDD come up first is not really a problem, it just causes a temporary increase in current consumption, its not going to damage the device.  That being said, there is no issue bringing AVDD up ahead of HVDD on the ADS8528.
