AMC1336-Q1: Clipping Question on AMC1336-Q1

Part Number: AMC1336-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AMC1336

I’m reviewing our application of the AMC1336 and I see that, in normal operation, the differential input voltage between AINP and AINN will remain within a +/-1V range. During excursions, however (amounting to a few thousand hours of operation – a significant portion of the operating life of the part), the AINP and AINN differential may reach up to +/-2.5V.

Can the AMC1336 operating in “clipping” for extended durations of time, provided that the absolute maximum ratings for the analog input voltage shown in the datasheet?

  • Hi Hubert,

Yes, the AMC1336 can operate under these conditions without damage to the device. The clipping voltage is +/- 1.25 V, so at +/- 2.5 V clipping will occur. However, since this is still below the absolute maximum ratings, the device will not shut down.

    Best regards,

    Eva
