ADS1158: Height Tolerance of ADS1158

Part Number: ADS1158

What is the height tolerance of ADS1158? The maximum is listed, but I need more information on the minimum total height which is listed at 0.90 Max.

Mechanical. Dimension. Height. Tolerance.

  • Hi Harrison Greene,

Since this information is not readily available in the datasheet, it will be difficult to track down. Can I ask why you need this information, since the maximum height is given? You know the device cannot be larger than the maximum, so I am a bit confused as to why it would be an issue if the device was slightly shorter than the maximum

  • I am selecting a thermal interface material and giving design recommendations based on the tolerance of the cold plate, component, desired amount of compression on that thermal interface material (TIM). Having the maximum height is not enough because we want to make sure we are minimizing the thermal resistance (and cost of the TIM) while accounting for component tolerances.

  • Hi Harrison Greene,

Thanks for providing the explanation. I'll see if I can track down the requested information, it might take several days however so thanks in advance for your patience. I will also note that any information we are able to provide will not be guaranteed since it is not included in the datasheet. I just want to make sure that is clear before we go any further

To clarify, you would like to know the minimum height of the package so you can have the min/max range, is that correct?

  • Bryan,

Correct. Max and min or nominal and tolerance would both be acceptable. Thanks.

  • Hi Harrison Greene,

Understood, I'll get back to you next week then

  • Hi Harrison Greene,

I spoke with our packaging team, they quoted a minimum height of 0.75 for this specific package.

As noted previously, the only guaranteed information is that which is provided in the datasheet, so you use this new information at your own risk
