ADC3562: Is it possible to send a software reset instead of using hardware reset to set up the device?

Part Number: ADC3562

Hi everyone,

It is written in the DataSheet of the ADC3562 (at "9.2 Initialisation Set Up" p72/85) tu apply an hardware reset after sampling clock (before programming it using SPI).

Is it possible after a power on to use a soft reset instead of this hardware reset?

Just after in "9.2.1 Register Initialization DUring Operation" it is written : " After hardware or software reset the wait time is also ~ 200000 clock cycles before the SPI registers can be
programmed."

I expect this is possible but as it is not working on my custom board and ask here (in hte meantime i I will also check the SPI communication)

Thanks for your help.

Have a good day.

Aurélien

  • Hi Aurélien,

When using the TI EVMs in the lab, data can be captured using only a software reset, but we can't guarantee all the default settings have been loaded without the hardware reset.

Is it possible in your design to supply a hardware reset? I recommend trying that first to get the part working.

    Best regards,

    Drew

  • Hi,

I can put a wire to control Hardware reset but I prefer not use it (I will lose another function on my board).

I provide power and clock to the AC3562.

With a hardware reset ADC3562 output clock on DCLK (out), but with the software reset I have nothing (my set up is: power on, provide clock (>200_000 tick) and then reset (hard or soft)).

Can you confirm me that I can use a software Reset to enable DCLK (out)?

Can you send me the list of register modified by software reset and the default value?

    Thanks

  • Hi Aurélien,

Unfortunately, I cannot guarantee the performance of the device using only a software reset. I can only recommend following the instructions provided in the datasheet to supply a hardware reset upon power up.

    Best regards,

    Drew

  • Hi Aurélien,

I checked with the design team and they confirmed that a hardware reset must be performed to ensure this device is configured correctly.
