AFE4420: Driving a blue laserdiode with Vf > 5.5V

Hi

We are using AFE4420 in an innovation project where we so far has used a red laserdiode with good results. Now we are looking to use also a blue laserdiode but the problem is that Vf for the blue laserdiode is 5-6 volt. Would it be possible to power the blue laser with a separate source and still control it with the AFE4420 since maximum voltage input to the AFE is 5.5 volt and that is not enough for the blue laser. Or do you have any other suggestion?
