DAC53401: maximum output for Power-Supply Margining

Part Number: DAC53401

Hi expert,

Can you help elaborate why the maximum output is derived as below?

Per our understanding, it should be derived as this equation.

Thanks,

Zach

  • Hi Zach,

I agree with you that the maximum output should be calculated by (VFB*2) - DACmin so that the differential between the margin high and margin low values are equal (if the goal is to margin by +/- a certain percentage). The equation you underlined works out when VFB is 0.6V, but not for other values. I'm not exactly sure where it was derived from. I would just recommend that you keep the maximum code at least 1% below the DAC full-scale code to avoid any error from the DAC full scale error.

    Best,
