ADC3442EVM: 110MSPS ADC capability, Software Development Kit and DSP System

I hope this message finds you well.

I am Dimitris Gounaridis, a researcher based in Athens, Greece, reaching out to explore the capabilities of your ADC systems for a specific application we are developing. Our project involves the assembly of a Swept Source Optical Coherence Tomography (SS-OCT) System.

The SS-OCT system we are designing will have a sweeping period of 20 kHz (or 50 microseconds), generating 1352 samples within each period. This results in a data acquisition rate of 27.04 MSPS (MegaSamples Per Second). Considering the Nyquist Theorem the Sampling Rate for the ADC Channel should be approximately 55MSPS.

Furthermore, we anticipate extending our project to incorporate two parallel SS-OCT systems, meaning that we need an ADC with two channels, each at 55MSPS 110MSPS in total.
Given these specifications, I came through your product ADC3442EVM, which comes with an Control Software. I would like to ask, is this Control Software able to process this amount and rate of data in terms of FFT algorithm? 
If not, is there a Software Developoment Kit (SDK) you would  propose that I could use to build a script and carry out FFT on this amount and rate of data?
Another thing, would you have to propose a DSP System suitable to carry out FFT algorithm for our application? After the FFT processing we will transfer the resultant data of the FFT to another computing unit for a simpler process.

Could you please advise on the suitability of your products for our application, including any specific models that you would recommend?

  • Hi Dimitris,

    The ADC3442EVM has a SW GUI which you can control the ADC features only.

    There is a separate SW program you can download that captures and processes the FFT. This is HSDCPro....see link.

    However, you need a way to capture the data from the ADC3442 and our current data capture board.

    This is described in the ADC3442 EVM user guide.

    Unfortunately, this data capture board just obsoleted do to the FPGA unavailability.

    We don't expect to have a released data capture platform for several quarters unfortunately.
