DAC63202W: Current Pulsing Capability

Hello TI Team,

I'm hoping to set up the DAC63202W to produce biphasic current pulses at intervals and amplitudes determined by an external MCU. I see configurations to create PWM/square voltage waves, but am unsure if this is possible with current output. I saw use of the LDAC pin to toggle between states, could this be used to toggle between high (+) and low (-) current on one or both pins simultaneously?

    You can configure the GPIO pin to toggle either one or both of the IDAC outputs from a high to low value. The high/low values for each IDAC are configured independently.

    Great, thank you for your help! And when setting one of the outputs to the lowest value, I understand that it will simply sink as much current as possible up to the lowest current sink value (-250uA)? In this case would the output be at low impedance up to that point? I'm considering applying the current outputs across a load (terminating at each other):
    OUT0 -> LOAD <- OUT1
    and want to make sure that this would work as expected. I could switch each side to ground as needed but would prefer to avoid adding extra components.

    Are you just trying to swap the direction of current through the load?

    In that case it might make more sense to configure one of the channels in voltage output mode and swap between some output voltage and ground. The other channel will be swapping between source and sink mode. In sink mode the current output pin will need to be at 400mV above ground, and in source mode the pin will need to be at least 400mV below VDD for the device to be able to generate the current.

    Yes, the goal is to swap the current direction at programmable rates and amplitudes.

    I see, yes that configuration could be exactly what we need. Once I have a testing system set up I'll try this along with some other options.
