DAC7760: VOUT Pin Max Load

The datasheet for DAC7760 mentions a minimum load of 1kΩ to "meet specified performance". I am hoping to use a minimum load of 200Ω. What would the expected behavior be? Will I damage the device or just lose some accuracy?

    Brian,

    I think that with a load of 200Ω for a voltage output, you risk damage to the device. With 10V on 200Ω, that would be 50mA pulled from the device. We don't have an absolute maximum listing in the datasheet for the current pulled from analog pins, but I would limit it to 25mA as a maximum to prevent damage. I'm not sure if you could run the device at 400Ω load without damage with long term operation, but I think you'd still be out of specification. 

    Additionally if AVDD is 15V, and you're pulling 50mA, there's about 5V of headroom. That's the equivalent of another 0.25W of power, which is going to heat up the die. With this device, the die wouldn't get super hot, but the thermal pad on the bottom of the device would certainly need to be connected.
