Hi team,

I2C timing characteristics is specified according to Fast Mode and High-Speed Mode only.

When Standard-mode is used, does timing spec follows I2C standard?

e.g. Rise time of Fast-mode is specified as 300ns(max). When SCL operates less than 100kHz, does ADS1015 work properly even if Rise time is <1000ns?

This question has been asked in the past: ADS1013: ADS1013 / I2C specification in Standard mode - Data converters forum - Data converters - TI E2E support forums.

"The ADS1015 is compatible with I2C but doesn't completely adhere to all of the specifications. There were compromises made so that it could also be compatible with the SMBus specification.

I would note that another unusual specification for the ADS1015 is that there is a minimum SCLK clock frequency of 10kHz."

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for your reply. I know the thread but it's not clear that standard-mode is literally not supported or not.

ADS1015 doesn't guarantee operation of Standard-mode?

Hello Shota-san,

The ADS1015 will operate in I2C standard-mode but cannot be operated with an SCLK frequency below 10kHz.

So, the ADS1015 has a frequency minimum at 10kHz, where the I2C standard does not.
