ADS131M04: DRDY pin not working proper as per datasheet timing diagram.

Part Number: ADS131M04

Tool/software:

in given image blue pulse is clock(4Mhz) and red is DRDY. currently we not doing SPI communication only give clock input at CLKIN pin. at that time DRDY pin stay low and after some time its goes high, but as per datasheet its normally needs to stay high and go low. what is the reason behind this?

  • Hi Saurabh,

after power-up the DRDYn pin transitions from low to high. The high transition indicates that the device is ready for communication.

The device starts converting automatically when an external clock is applied. When the first conversion completes, the DRDYn pin transitions from high to low. If you do NOT read out conversion data, then the DRDYn pin stays low until shortly before the next conversion completes. In that case you see a short high-low pulse. The low transition indicates that new data completed.
If you do read out data before the next conversion completes, then DRDYn drives high at that point.
