Hi Experts,

Asking your assistance on this query from customer:

I'm using the ADS1299-4. Upon powering it up (PWDN) pin is hold high and subsequential doing a software RESET the ADS does not responds to the request for device ID. Setup: the Master is an STM32 f446, pins used are PB13(SCLK), PB14(MISO),PB15(MOSI),CS(PD1),DRDY(PD13),PWDN(PD11); APB1 clock is 40Mhz.

Followed this post from E2E:

(+) ADS1299-4: ADS1299 is unresponsive to commands - Data converters forum - Data converters - TI E2E support forums

I tried to follow the instructions from the page 62. I checked the VCAP1 and I have 1.192V on it when I reach that step. But from what I understand the step before that is to pull high the PDWN and then to pull high the RESET wait and then to pull low the RESET am I right ? or I just have to leave the RESET high?
Also I checked the continuity of the traces and everything matches the schematics.

Our schematics is identical. Any assistance is highly appreciated.

Regards,
Archie A.

  • Hi Archie,

Yes, the device expects a hardware RESET after power up per section 11.1 of the data sheet. Once the device is ready to be used, the customer must first send the SDATAC command (11h).

Can you also confirm they are using SPI Mode 01?

For additional helpful tips, please refer them to our ADS129x BIOFAQ page on E2E.
