ADS1278-SP: overstressing

Part Number: ADS1278-SP

Tool/software:

If for the ADS1278WHFQ-MLS device, only has applied power to AVDD, VREFEN, VREFP and NOT DVDD, IOVDD is there risk for damage or overstress of the component?

  • Hello Adam,

    No concerns for device reliability; no ABS Max specs are violated in this case as long as none of the digital inputs are driven.

    With AVDD powered up, once DVDD and IOVDD are powered, you will need to follow the guidance in section 10 of the datasheet to reset the device by asserting the /SYNC pin after data first appear.  This step is necessary since the recommended power supply sequence was not followed; DVDD->IOVDD->AVDD.
