Hi team,

My customer wants a sine wave generator and they need 20 channel sine wave with 12V RMS and 10mA output current capacity.

They also need to control the frequency from 65Hz to 500Hz.

Can DAC53204-Q1 do this?

I read the app note https://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/slaae66 but I still worry about the THD.

If DAC cannot do this, can you give me some recommendation?

Hi team,

Sorry I misunderstood customer's need.

They need 20 channels fixed frequency and adjustable amplitude sine wave.

These 20 channels should have the same output.

Hi Peter,

DAC53204 can generate a sine wave with a few configurable frequencies. You would need an external op amp to boost the voltage to 12V and provide the 10mA drive. DAC53204 uses the DAC reference as the amplitude for the sine wave. You could vary the reference to modulate the sine wave amplitude, but this can't be done in software.

You can use a standard DAC that does support this voltage and current drive and then write the DAC codes to generate the sine wave via I2C or SPI.

Hi Peter,

Not anything planned to come out in the next year. I'm not sure about the plans beyond that, but I haven't heard of an 8-channel version planned.
