AMC1210: Invalid measurements (glitches) on output data.

Part Number: AMC1210
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AMC3336

Tool/software:

Dear TI Community,

I an seeking support regarding strange data artefacts on measurements with the AMC1210.

AMC1210 is demodulating the output of AMC3336.

We have observed glitches on two input test cases :

1. Mains grid 230VAC (50Hz) (scaled 500:1)

2. Zero Voltage (shorted AMC3336 inputs)

Often the 16-bit result hits full-scale (ie. 32767 or -32768) where we see these glitches, but other values below this (but well in excess of the valid full-scale measurement range) have also appeared.

On test case 1 (mains AC), the glitches often appear around the zero crossings, but not always.

On test case 2 (0VDC), the glitches seemed to be occurring periodically.

Configuration:

  • 3rd order Sinc Filter
  • Oversampling Ratio = 32
  • Integrator disabled
  • Modulation frequency = 20MHz (external 40MHz clock, divider factor 2)
  • SPI Clock Speed = 15MHz (acquiring samples from AMC1210 at 20kHz)
