BP-ADS7128: USB Port not detected

Part Number: BP-ADS7128
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-EXP432E401Y, ADS7128, , MSP432E401Y, UNIFLASH

Tool/software:

Hello,

I am currently using an ADS7128 paired with the MSP-EXP432E401Y. I went to the GUI for the ADS7128 to see if I can read the registers

I have XDS110 Class Application/UART  and XDS Class Auxiliary Data Port  with different COM numbers when I plug the debug port to the USB on the computer.

I allegedly successfully flashed the device.

I then plug the USB to the other side, closer to the ADS7128 board, where the reference designator says U7.

I get the following problems:

as well as this

when I look at my device manager, this is what I see:

It seems my devices aren't being recognized which is why I am not seeing the "connected" status. What drivers or software am I missing?

  • Hi Sahar,

Apologies for the late reply. We haven't encountered this issue before, so we were tracking the right person who might have knowledge on this.

First of all, you should ensure that all of the jumpers on the MSP432E401Y LaunchPad are done exactly as per figure 4 of the BP-ADS7128 user's guide. Are all 10 jumpers in place to bridge the XDS110 debug probe to the MSP432-side of the board? These are the jumpers towards the right of the image, along the dotted line silkscreen.

If this doesn't work, can you try plugging 2 micro-USB cables to both ends of the board, with both connected to your computer? Are you able to see if this works, and we can further debug from there?

    Regards,
    Joel

  • Yes, they are in the correct spots. I also have both USB cables on both ends of the board. Still showing XDS110 and ACCtrl being recognized.  it still has the same error codes. Is it possible that either board is damaged?

  • Do you need to read the flash memory from the uniflash? would that help? I can send a screenshot.

  • HI Sahar,

That wouldn't hurt to see. Go ahead and send the screenshot in case there is any information to gather from it.

    Regards,
    Joel

  • hi Joel,

Here is a partial preview of it. I will also upload the voltages for the ADS7128 pinouts as it's connected to the MSP432 launchpad. Just gotta edit the image for it a bit.

  • here are the pinout readings. the 0V readings are between 0.01 and 0.018V referencing TP6:

edit: the lower row on the analog pins all read at around 0V

  • It is now showing the following instead of the ACCtrl

  • Hi Sahar,

That is an encouraging sign, as it means that the MSP432 is in DFU mode. Are you able to try flashing the program onto the controller again through the GUI? Does this give you the same result as last time?

    Regards,
    Joel

  • Hi Joel,

It went back to the Acctrl. In both cases (MSP432 upgrade and Acctrl) it had the same result.

Suppose I see the MSP432 firmware upgrade detected. I run the "scan for hardware changes" and see that it allegedly has the best drivers for it. There has to be a missing driver somewhere. I may be missing a link with the download somewhere. I already tried to look in the msp432_driverlib_3_21_00_05 folder (extracted). Do I have to download something else in particular?
