ADS7280: ADC configuration

Hello,

I need to read sensors data with 100Hz sampling frequency. My Sensor BW is 20 Hz.

Please suggest the best configuration for ADS7280 to read both channels data at 100 Hz. I want to keep MCU host busy for minimum time possible.

I am thinking to use Auto Trigger and simply read data from both channels at 10ms interrupt in my MCU. Do I need to care about EOC pin ?

Hi Nick,

Happy New Year! Thanks for your question. In your application, could you sample faster? The reason I ask is because the minimum CCLK speed for ADS7280 is 500kHz. In auto-trigger mode, there needs to be a minimum of 21 CCLKs between CONVST pulses. The CONVST frequency is what decides the device sampling rate, so the minimum sampling rate is about 24 kHz. Otherwise, you may choose to use a slower ADC.

In the case that you are meeting the minimum requirements of the ADC, no, you don't necessarily need to use EOC. You could use it to trigger your interrupt, if you choose. Auto-trigger mode would work fine for your use-case of reading both channels continuously.

Are there any sample/program codes for study ? For another ADC will also work. Just want to see the structure of code..
