ADS1258-EP: Where is the Altium File for this dev kit?

Part Number: ADS1258-EP

Tool/software:

Need the Altium for this dev kit ADS1258-EP

Please stop from having your customers beg for the original CAD/EDA source files.  No other semiconductor mfg makes their users jump thru hoops to get resources to design in their products.

Don't do that.  Make it easy for a customer to develop with and use your parts...  you'll sell more.

  • Also - whomever does your Altium designs tell them to use Ports for connections on other sheets.  Set up you Project > Project Options > Options  in Altium to Automatic Sheet Numbering and Automatic Cross References.  See attached.

If you need some help with training your employees to use Altium correctly, let me know.  Been using is for 30 years (back when it was Protel)

  • HI wayne mitzen,

We typically do not provide the Altium files for our EVMs. I can provide you the gerber files however, so let me know if you want this info

  • No, I've gotten Altium files from TI before.  In fact, some parts/dev kits have them on the web page for the devkits, easily downloadable.

I've been doing this for over 40 years.  Every semiconductor manufacturer that I use - BESIDES TI - provides source CAD files.  Some even go as far as providing them in multiple formats or in easily translated ASCII versions.

TI not providing them  makes no sense.  I need the source Altium files to proceed with our product development.  In fact, see this from one of your own engineers:  https://e2e.ti.com/user/conversations#ConversationID=7ed63413-f845-40f6-9953-ec535afd86ef

    "

my suggestion: always ask for the files on e2e forums. it is highly probable that you get it.

    "

Look - provide the source files.  I shouldn't have to beg for them. You already give the schematic in the datasheet/manual so any legal liabilities are blown right there.

This is nutz.  TI used to be so helpful.   TI support used to be great - you could call and talk to an expert. Mainly due to the man bun, java jockey pitiful python pirate mentality that's so prevalent nowadays.  Back in the day it wasn't "cool" to do tech - you were considered a "geek".

People did tech "in spite of" that.  For the right reasons. Now it's like the new "rockstar".

    So sad.

One of my engineers retired recently - he got tired of dealing with stuff like this.

"It's a good time to retire..." after on of the Man buns blew up the prototype I made for him.

  • Hi wayne mitzen,

Seems that you asked a similar question a few months back, and got a similar answer as I have provided you: https://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management-group/power-management/f/power-management-forum/1392238/tps65987d-source-eda-files-for-tps65987d-and-other-evm-s/5325891?tisearch=e2e-sitesearch&keymatch=%252520user%25253A615724#5325891. We are not able to share the Altium files with you at this time due to similar concerns that Adam already shared with you in that post

Also, I am not sure how the rest of your post is relevant to your question. It is not clear to me what "java jockeys" or "pitiful python pirates" are, nor do I understand what "man buns" have to get with getting Altium files. It seems that you are frustrated with not getting the info you requested, which is understandable. However, we appreciate if you can ask your questions and provide any relevant technical support details, and leave it at that.
