ADS127L01: Conversion results

Part Number: ADS127L01

Tool/software:

Hi,

I have setup the device for LL filter and OSR 32 for sampling rate of 512KSPS, we are trying to measure rapid DC voltage changes at a fast rate for our application, we use SPI and have verified the operation of the device. The issue is with the conversion sometimes being the exact same number even with changes to the ADC input, we would expect a small variation in the conversion as a fact. The process involves starting conversion with Pulling START high and monitoring the DRDY signal so we know it is a new measurement every time.

When we change the input more aggressively we see the change until the same number repeats again, we are in the middle of the scale so not close to over or under scale. Below is a sample of the data collected converted to mV. Any feedback would be appreciated.

  • Hello Anas,

Welcome to the TI E2E community.

The filter will have a 5 conversion period settling time, but each conversion will show a response to a step input change.  Also, using the LL filter with OSR=32, you should see approximately 65uVpp of noise.  Your reading values are stable to better than 1uV above, which suggests that the readings from the ADC are not converted to the correct values, or only 16b of the 24b word is captured.

Please capture a few SPI frames using a logic analyzer or scope and send a copy so I can see the raw output of the ADC.  Please include /CS, /DRDY, SCLK, and DOUT.

Also, please confirm the reference voltage used, and the voltage waveform applied to the input.

    Regards,
    Keith Nicholas
