ADS9117: Power consumption

Part Number: ADS9117

Tool/software:

Hello team,

My customer is confused when calculating total power consumption of ADS9117.

On the 1st page of the datasheet, it is written that 59mW for ADS9117.

However, on page 9, the typical current consumption for ADS9117 is 10mA (AVDD_5V) and 37.5mA (VDD_1V8)

So the power consumption would be 5V*10mAtyp+1.8V*37.5mAtyp=117.5mW

Also, the Figure 6-15 and 6-16 shows that current consumption for ADS9117 is 20mA (AVDD_5V) and 50mA (VDD_1V8).
It is exceeding the max current consumption from the EC table...
Then the calculated total power consumption would be 190mW...

What is the correct current and power consumption for ADS9117?

Best Regards,
Kei Kuwahara

  • Hello Kuwahara-san

The correct current and power consumption for the ADS9117 is what can be calculated in the Power Supply section of the Electrical Characteristics table (117.5mW).

This device is part of a larger family of devices that are dual channel ADCs and the values in the Features section were typically displayed  as "/ch" so updating this value to be for a single channel as well as updating the plots in Figure 6-15 & 16 were unfortunately overlooked.

Thank you for bringing this up to our attention, it will be updated in the next datasheet revision.

    Best regards,

    Yolanda
