ADS1278-SP: AVDD range

Part Number: ADS1278-SP

Tool/software:

Hi,

Is the range for AVDD 4.75V to 5.25V as specified in the pinout descriptions or would a 3.3V rail be acceptable? There is no recommended operating condition for the voltage outside of the 4.75V to 5.25V, so I wanted to confirm that that was indeed the recommended operating condition for AVDD. Abs max is –0.3V to 6V, but it is unclear if 3.3V is outside the recommended condition but within abs max ratings.

Thanks,

Lauren

  • Hello Lauren,

Yes, the ADS1278-SP is only specified for operation from 4.75V to 5.25V.  The device will not be damaged if AVDD is set to 3.3V, but it is unlikely that it would function at this low voltage, and none of the other datasheet specifications would be valid.  The internal power-on-reset threshold is set to about 3V; some some devices will likely be held in reset at 3.3V due to tolerance of the POR circuit.
