Out of curiosity, how does the input range of the TLC2578 derate when used with a 4.096V reference?

    For the TLC2578, if you look at the equivalent circuit (Figure 33, page 38) and crunch the numbers, the voltage divider internal to the device is going to give you 4.00V at +10V input with a 4.00V reference.  With a reference of 4.096V, you'll have about 50mV of offset error.  You can compensate for this in your software, but that will reduce your dynamic range slightly.

  • Ahhh, thanks.  The physical problem I was having was the input to the ADC from my voltage divider was not quite right, but after accounting for that Figure it's all sensible now (we had gone for a voltage divider using 10k and 20k values but hadn't accounted for the parallel loading of the scaling circuit).
