TLC7524: Question concerning lot code 78CJC2M

Part Number: TLC7524

Tool/software:

Hi,

We use the TLC7524IN DAC in some of our power conversion products. Recently, we began seeing some incorrect output voltage levels, and we found that changing the DAC to a different lot code seemed to correct the issue. The lot code of the TL7524 devices that was giving us trouble was 78CJC2M. Are there any known quality issues or reports on that specific specific lot code?

Thanks!

  • Hi Will,

No, there are no known issues.

Can you provide more details on the issue that is being seen? Were these parts purchased from TI directly or an authorized distributor?

    Best,

    Katlynne Jones

  • Hello Katlynne,

The DAC is being used with a PIC micro to produce a sine wave reference (about 11 V amplitude), and the output of the DAC is going to the non-inverting input of a quad comparator (LM319N). We found that for the 78CJC2M lot code of the DAC, the reference signal showed signs of clipping, and changing to a different lot appeared to correct the problem. Are you part of the Applications team for the TLC7524IN? We were wondering if we could send some of these to TI (with a "good" lot code for comparison) to be checked out.

  • Hi Wil,

The reference is an input to the device. How is it showing signs of clipping?

I cannot accept the devices from you directly but if you submit a quality return through the channel you purchased the devices (either ti.com or an authorized distributor) then they will be returned to us to be checked out.

    Best,

    Katlynne

  • Sorry, I could have explained that more clearly. I meant that the PIC micro and DAC are being used to produce a sine wave signal, and that signal is being used as a "reference" for another circuit. So I wasn't referring to the reference pin on the DAC. The sine wave signal has been clipped with a particular lot code of the TLC7524.

Thanks for the information about submitting a quality return. I will pursue that with our purchasing office.
