ADC12DJ5200RF: Question about Foreground Calibration when Changing JMODEs on ADC12DJ5200RF

Part Number: ADC12DJ5200RF

Tool/software:

Dear TI Support Team,

I am currently using the ADC12DJ5200RF and would like to ask about foreground calibration in relation to JMODE switching.

After performing a foreground calibration for a certain JMODE, I plan to change the JMODE to a different setting after sometime. Since the decimation setting may also change when switching JMODEs, I would like to confirm whether it is necessary to run foreground calibration again after the change, or if the previous calibration results remain valid.

Additionally, if there is information available about the typical time required for foreground calibration, could you please share it with me?

Thank you very much for your support.

Best regards,
Jeongju Go

  • Hi Jeongju,

Yes, each time the JMODE or ADC configuration is changes, it would be advised to also recalibrate the ADC.

In terms of time, you can estimate the calibration to be on the order of ~200mSec.

    Regards,

    Rob

  • Dear Rob,

Thank you very much for your previous clarification regarding foreground calibration.
I would like to ask one additional follow-up question.

If foreground calibration is not performed after changing the JMODE, what kind of issues or performance degradation might occur (e.g., in terms of accuracy, linearity, or signal stability)?

I would greatly appreciate your guidance on this matter.

Thank you again for your kind support.

    Best regards,
    Jeongju

  • Hi Jeongju,

The device provides foreground and background calibration options for gain, offset and static linearity errors. This is in the datasheet on page 60.

    Regards,

    Rob
