TLV5626: How the REF pin paralleling should set the internal or external reference source

Part Number: TLV5626

Hi TIer

My customer find a fault chip of TLV5626 in a old project.

They use 2 TLV5626 parallel REF Pin.

Then 2 TLV5626 also set as internal reference mode.

We think the fault root cause because TLV5626 have external voltage when chip in internal reference mode. Do you agree?

Customer plan to change one TLV5626 as internal reference and one TLV5626 as external reference.

Is there a risk of damage from such long-term use?

  • Hi Yuxi Liu,

Yes, if both devices are set to internal reference mode, it could cause issues when they are in parallel. There is a caution on page 12 of the datasheet that says this: "If external reference voltage is applied to the REF pin, external reference MUST be selected." So there is a good chance your failure is because of this.

Using one device in External reference mode and one in internal reference mode should work fine with no issues.

    Thanks,
    Erin
