ADC12D1000: Current Consumption

Hello,

I have a question regarding the current consumption.
According to datasheet supply current is 2.105A for ADC12D1000.
What is the margin that I have to use for the power supply in this case?
Can I use 2.105A as the max value?

I am planing to use TPS7A53B to suppply this ADC. However, the temperature is very high, also i want to keep the current 70% of the Iout max of 3A (2.1Ain this case).

Hi Filipe,

Yes, the max number includes margin in the datasheet. Please design and choose an LDO that aligns with your requirements and typically have a bit of headroom.

Therefore, the TPS7A53B should be a good choice.

Thank you! I will consider using this LDO TPS7A53B.
I have considering using the TPS7N49 too. Do you think this is also as good as TPS7A53B?
TPS7N49 noise and thermal resistance looks a bit worse, but nothing too far from TPS7A53B.
What do you think?

Hi Filipe,

I would look at the TPS7A9601 (2A), TPS7A5301 (3) LDO devices.

These are what we currently use on all of our EVMs for best/lowest noise performance.
