HI Tom :

I use ADS7861 to decode SIN/CON encoder (with PMSM motor driver 15KW power).
The ADS7861 work on mode #3
Before enable PWM Signal (IGBT control signal) The ADS7861 work normally
but after enable PWM Signal The ADS7861 damaged

  • Hi Chin-Win,

Welcome to our forum!  What sort of problems are you having with the ADS7861?  The ADS7861 has internal ESD cells to protect the device during the handling/construction phase of your printed circuit board.  If your application can deliver voltages outside the ABS MAX range of the analog inputs or digital I/O range, there are several methods typically employed to 'protect' the device.  On the analog side, Schottkey diodes may be installed to protect the device from over-voltage.  Current limiting resistors are another option on the analog or digital I/O side of things.  Give us a little more detail on the problems you've experienced and we'll try to guide you to an appropriate solution to fit your needs.
