input to ADS7842

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS7842

Hi,

I am newbee to ADC process. I am trying to feed a sine wave input to ADS7842, from a function generator with a peak to peak voltage value of 5 volts. How the negative half cycle of my input will be converted to Digital output and what will be my expetced values for + 2.5 v and - 2.5 v.

Thanks in advance.

The short answer is it wont. The ADS7842 is not a bipolar converter and the inputs are single-ended. You'll have to apply some external signal conditioning to use this converter to convert a bi-polar signal. See page 2, 3, 4, and 9 of the datasheet for more information.

What is your application? We can perhaps find a more suitable converter for your needs if you share with us your requirements.
