find Precision ADC device?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC8165, ADS8361, ADS8363

I'd like  to find Precision ADC device..

The requirements spec as below :

1. Precision ADC :

2. Sample Rate : upper 100Kbps

3. Input Channel : more 3Ch.

4. Interface : Serial SPI

5. Additional Functions :

when requet data sending from CPU,

needs to control pin that is to send each channel data at a time.

simply explain, thera are function of Sampling & hold.

How about DAC8165 of 4ch ?

( - 14-Bit, Quad Channel, Ultra-Low Glitch, Voltage Output DAC with 2.5V, 2ppm/°C Internal Reference )

thanks,

Eric.

  • Eric,

We offer a parametric search tool to browse our library of devices just for inquiries like this, you can use the tool here. With the information that you have provided so far there are many devices that may fit your application, so I think the tool will be most helpful. I encourage you to, at least, define the resolution that your application requires. If you have difficulties please share more about your specific application with us.

"Sample and Hold" is usually referring to the principles by which a SAR converter operates. Basically a SAR converter delivers analog-to-digital conversions in two phases: a sampling phase and a conversion phase. Sample and Hold refers to the actions carried out by the SAR's sampling capacitor during the sample phase and conversion phase.

At the start of the sampling phase the sampling capacitor is switched in, then the input voltage charges the capacitor over the sampling time. At the end of the sampling time the capacitor is switched out and the device enters the conversion phase. The sampling capacitor holds some voltage during the conversion phase that is used to produce the digital codes to complete the analog-to-digital conversion process.

The DAC8165 is not an analog-to-digital converter. DAC8165 goes "the other way" and produces analog voltages based on digital input codes.

  • Hi, Kevin,

    Thanks for your collect guide,

And I'm under considering ADS8361 to applydesign.

    about ADS8361,

Is it possible to measure upto 3CH at the same time?

could you pls recommend whether it is suitable device or not?

    [ additional features ]

     16-bit, 4channel. upper 100Kbps,

a device should be possible to do trigger the ADC Data output byCPU?

    Thanks, Eric.

  • Hi Eric,

The ADS8361 is a 2x2 simultaneous sampling converter - you can only sample two channels at a time.  There is a 'sister' part to the ADS8361 though, the ADS8363 - this device can be configured as a 3x2 simultaneous sampling for three single ended inputs.  The CONVST input could be driven by a timer or GPIO on your host controller.
