ADC16DV160 Sleep questions

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADC16DV160

We're looking at using the sleep mode on the ADC16DV160 to try and conserve power, but it is difficult for us to quickly disable the input clock to the ADC.

1- Does the ADC16DV160 require us to stop the clock when going into sleep (to avoid damage to the part)?

2- What is the power consumption of the ADC16DV160 in sleep mode with the clock active?

3- Are there any other items we should know about sleep mode (datasheet doesn't provide much detail)

Thanks for any info you can provide.

  • Hello TI Forum,

Can you please answer this customer's question?

    Thanks!

  • 1- The clock may remain active while the ADC is in sleep mode or power down mode without damage.

2- I just checked it on the bench, and the clock state does not affect the power consumption.

3- In sleep mode, the reference buffers remain active so that the time required to come out of sleep mode is short. The drawback is the extra current burned in the reference buffers while in sleep mode. FOr the most power savings, Power Down Mode can be used instead of Sleep.
