ADC12D500RF / Test equipment used at measuring SNR specification

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADC12D500RF, LMX2531, ADC-LD-BB, WAVEVISION5

Now our customer is evaluating ADC12D500RF for industrial application, and now they are asking the test equipment used at measuring SNR specification.

The equipment they want to know are measuring instrument, analog source and clock source.

Can you disclose them?

Best Regards,

  • Hi Satoshi-san,

Yes, it is no problem to disclose the measurement setup:

    • Analog input: Rohde & Schwarz SMA100A with B22 low phase noise option to a Trilith tunable bandpass filter, e.g. http://rfmicrowave.trilithic.com/products/5vf-series-five-section-bandpass-tunable-filter.html.  For single-ended-to-differential conversion, we use the Picosecond 5310A phase-matched balun.  Note that, for lower input frequencies, such as Fin = 100MHz, a Mini-Circuits TC1-13-MA+ also provides good performance.  This is the balun which is on the ADC-WB-BB.
    • Clock: Rohde & Schwarz SMA100A with B22 low phase noise option to Trilithic bandpass filter to ADC-LD-BB to clock input in the case of an EVAL board.  The EVAL board has differential CLK+/- inputs and must be driven externally.  On the ADC12D500RF Reference Board, the LMX2531 is used to drive the sampling clock; this solution has no performance degradation in comparison to the SMA100A with B22.
    • SNR is calculated by the WaveVision5 software, which dynamic performance routines were created in Matlab.

Let us know if you have any further questions.

    Kind regards,

    Marjorie

  • Hi Marjorie-san,

    Thank you for your response.

Such a detailed information will be helpful for customer and us also.

    Best Regards,
