Hi team,
In looking at the TMS470 Hercules processors, they're storage temp is rated to -65C.
1) Is there something specific to the (older) TMS470R1B1M series that doesn’t allow them to be stored below -40C?
2) Can we share anything at all about what the weakest point is or whats effected at beyond -40C? (as others can go to -65C).
For good background on the questioning, please take a second to scan through what the customer (Moog) has pointed out (highlighted in red):
It seemed as though devices with I2C had the -40C storage spec, while other similar devices without it, had -65C spec'd. This seems strange, but if we were not going to be utilizing the I2C function in our application, would you feel confident that the processor would work fine in a -51C storage temp, and -32C operational temp environment?

- -65 deg storage temperature
- 768K flash/48K RAM vs 1M Flash/64K RAM on TMS470R1B1M
- No I2C
TMS470R1B512
- -65 deg storage temperature
- 512K flash/32K RAM vs 1M Flash/64K RAM on TMS470R1B1M
- No I2C
The TMS470R1A series has models with different storage temperatures also. These appear to be 48 MHz parts where TMS470R1B parts are 60 MHz:
TMS470R1A128: -65 deg storage temperature (no I2C)
TMS470R1A256: -65 deg storage temperature (no I2C)
TMS470R1A288: -40 deg storage temperature (has I2C)
RMS470R1A384: -40 deg storage temperature (has I2C)
