Interface with the LMH0030

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMH0030, TVP5151, TVP5150, TVP5160, TVP5146, TVP5147, TVP7002

Hello,

What analog video encoder can be directly interfaced with the LMH0030 serializer? The main purpose is to create a composite (SD) / components (HD) to SD/HD-SDI device.

Additionally, do you have an audio ADC to achieve the ancillary data required for the LMH0030?

Thanks,

Félix.

  • Felix,

You are looking for video decoders, not encoders in this case.

For SD video you can use the TVP5150, TVP5151, TVP5147, TVP5146 or TVP5160 (increasing level of quality and expense).

For HD video you need the TVP7002.

I can't comment too much on the audio side but I don't think you can simply connect a standard audio ADC.

  • Thanks Steve,

As I can see the TVP5150 and TVP5151 are a 8-bit 4:2:2 decoders. However, the LMH0030 accepts 10-bit 4:2:2 protocol. How to interface them? With the upper 8 bits of the 10-bit buffer?

From Table 4 (Video Raster Format Parameters) I see the LMH0030 can serialize an ITU-R 601.5 for PAL but not dor NTSC. I am a little bit confused about this video formats...

    Regards,

    Félix.

  • Felix,

For 8 bit connectivity you would simply connect to the upper 8 bits of the 10 bit port and tie the remain 2 LSB inputs to either '0' or '1', it should not matter which.

Table 4 shows both 525 and 625 line formats, so both NTSC and PAL are supported.

The datasheet also mentions that virtually any other non standard format can be supported, but the 'Format Code' would not be valid.

I don't know too much about the LMH0030 but I would expect it to be fine with both.

    Steve
